The Padilla Room is in the building that was originally the Gift Shop for the Playhouse. It is now a Recreation Department facility and, with the Grapevine Room, is constantly in use for meetings, classes and social functions.

The Grapevine Room was built in recent years on the site of the old Grapevine Inn, often referred to as the "Birthplace of Ramona" because Helen Hunt Jackson began writing her famous book about the California Indians while staying at the hotel. She used the name of a local resident, Ramona Shorb (cousin of General George S. Patton, Jr.) for the name of her heroine.
